Dual Arc winner Enable leapfrogged Winx and closed the gap on Crystal Ocean in the latest update of Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings.

Enable defeated Crystal Ocean by a neck in a memorable renewal of the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes (2406m) at Ascot last month. However, Crystal Ocean carried 1.5kg more than Enable in the race, thus retaining the higher rating.

Crystal Ocean remains ranked at 127 when rankings were released on Thursday with Enable rising from 123 to 126 to claim outright second spot ahead of Winx, Beauty Generation and City of Light who dropped to equal third on 125.

The Anthony Freedman-trained Santa Ana Lane still shares the honour of the equal highest-rated turf sprinter in the world with Godolphin sprinter Blue Point who retired after two Group 1 wins during Royal Ascot 2019.

Santa Ana Lane and Blue Point are both rated 124, along with France’s best older horse Waldgeist who finished third in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes and pushed his rating up from a mark of 122.

The next edition of rankings will be released on September 12.
