Williams training partnership dissolved due to ‘hesitancy on vaccination’

Grant and Alana Williams will end their training partnership effective immediately after rules came into force requiring the mandatory vaccination of participants in WA. The 11-time Group 1-winning pair have been a huge force in Western Australia and are most famous for their associations with owner Bob Peters and jockey William Pike.
Grant Williams will now become the sole trainer for all of their horses with Alana being removed from the partnership, due to what Grant said was her ‘hesitancy on vaccination’. In all, the husband and wife duo had 529 winners from 2054 starts, including 11 Group 1s, 11 Group 2s and 23 Group 3s. Their biggest win came with superstar mare Arcadia Queen (Pierro) in the Mackinnon Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) at Flemington in 2020. Former Ascot trainer Jeremy Easthope has been appointed as the stable foreman to Grant Williams.
