Video: Chris Waller provides everyone with an update on Nature Strip

Champion trainer Chris Waller says Nature Strip has given no reason to retire him after the stable thoroughly went over the world’s best sprinter following his Lightning failure.

Nature Strip, who finished sixth in the G1 last weekend, returned to Waller’s NSW stables this week, with the trainer saying on Friday morning that their investigations had not discovered any issues.

Waller said the plan would be to press on towards the Group 1 T.J Smith adding that the horse had not indicated to him that he was ready for retirement.

It is a strong backing from Waller, who is always a horse-first trainer and is naturally conservative when it comes to the future of his horses.

“We can’t find anything wrong with him. He’s sound, he’s trotting up as free as a bird,” Waller said.

“We’ve got nothing to hide. So at this stage we will leave the challenge and probably give him a trial  and go straight to the T.J.

“Any reason to retire him, we will do it straight away, but there’s no reason at the moment.”
