Video evidence of a jigger being used on Weir’s Melbourne Cup Runner

Victoria Police have video evidence of a jigger being used on a Darren Weir-trained
Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) runner last year according to a Fairfax Media report on Friday
morning. The video of Red Cardinal (Montjeu) being hit with the jigger while working on a
treadmill is expected to prove a vital piece of evidence against the banned trainer and his two
associates Jarrod McLean (foreman) and Tyson Kermond (stablehand). The Fairfax Media
article claims the video, which has been viewed by racing authorities, shows Red Cardinal being
hit in the neck with the electrical device by Kermond on a treadmill inside Weir’s former
Warrnambool stables. According to the article, the 20-second-long footage allegedly shows
Weir and McLean looking on as the horse is repeatedly hit just days out from the Melbourne
Cup.

When is someone going to have the guts to bring up the ride of John Allen when Trap For Fools wins its group 1 a few years back…. take a close look at the last few hundred metres where Allen repeatedly smacks the horse with a close fist around the neck area, mimicking a jigger ………

It was last years Mackinnon Stakes. Have a look at the 400m and again at the 200m.
