Victorian hope scratched from Railway

Saturday’s Railway Stakes will be run without Manolo Blahniq after Tony Noonan was forced to scratched the gelding from the $1 million event.

The Jimmy Choux six-year-old was on Tuesday found to be suffering from an elevated temperature and did not board the plane that carried the Railway Stakes’ eastern-states hopes west on Tuesday night.

Manolo Blahniq therefore did not take his place on the flight that was delayed 24 hours owing to a fuel leak discovered on Monday night.

Others including the James Cummings-trained Best Of Days and Lindsey Smith’s Reykjavik, who are among the acceptors for the Railway Stakes, arrived safely on Wednesday morning.
