Vertebrae fracture sees Currie sidelined

Despite originally thought to have escaped serious injury, Luke Currie will be sidelined for at least a month after a fractured vertebrae was uncovered following further medical observation. Currie was thrown from the David Hall-trained Pride Of Eight (Pride Of Dubai) when his saddle slipped at the Sha Tin trials on Friday. “Unfortunately further scans have revealed Luke Currie has a fracture to his T7. No surgery required. Minimum six-week recovery,” the Victorian Jockeys’ Association said in a statement.
