Update On Fallen Jockeys At Sale

The spring aspirations of Group 1-winning jockey Joe Bowditch have been dealt a blow
with scans showing a neck fracture following a fall at Sale. Bowditch was one of four jockeys
to fall at Sale on Wednesday with apprentices Chris Caserta and Thomas Stockdale also on
the injured list. Michael Walker escaped injury, riding in jump-outs at Flemington before the
Ballarat meeting yesterday. Bowditch was originally cleared of a clavicle fracture and was
thought to be suffering soft tissue damage, but the Victorian Jockeys’ Association said
Bowditch had undergone further scans which revealed he had sustained a stable fracture in
his neck and a fractured left clavicle, requiring between two and three months on the
sidelines.
