Stony Creek meeting abandoned

Tuesday’s Stony Creek race meeting has been abandoned due to continual wet weather in the area.

Stony Creek has received 40ml of rain in the past 24 hours resulting in surface water on the track and significant areas of the course flooding including the mounting yard and float carpark.

A Racing Victoria media release stated that with further rain forecast for Monday evening and with no suitable venues to transfer the meeting to, it would be cancelled.

“Horses that remained in the fields can nominate as normal entries at Wangaratta (Thursday), Pakenham (Thursday), Hamilton (Friday), Cranbourne (Friday), Flemington (Saturday) and Woolamai (Saturday) by 5pm today,” the RV statement said.

“RV’s Racing Operations team have reviewed the program and decided additional races were not required at this stage but will divide races across meetings from Thursday to Sunday if required for horses to gain a start.”

Victorian racing resumes on Wednesday at Sportsbet Sandown Hillside.
