Queensland media rights negotiations ongoing
The negotiations for Queensland’s media rights remain ongoing, despite a recent announcement that Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) had agreed a deal with Sky Channel. BRC controls the rights to Eagle Farm and Doomben, with Racing Queensland presiding over the remainder of courses.
A deal for those remaining courses was expected to be concluded by the end of April, with multiple interested parties reported as vying for the rights – including Sky, Racing.com, Channel 7 and Channel 10. BRC’s support of Sky is seen as significant, as there had been calls from some industry figures for a change to the long-running deal. A Racing Queensland spokesperson confirmed that there was no set date for a conclusion of their ongoing negotiations.
