Peter V’landys has lost his defamation suit against the ABC
Racing NSW boss Peter V’landys has lost his defamation suit against the ABC, it has been reported.
The powerful racing figure was suing the network over an animal cruelty feature that aired on the 7.30 program.
The episode which aired in October, 2019 revealed retired racehorses were being killed in a Queensland abattoir.
He alleged the program defamed him and damaged his reputation.

It was reported he claimed he was denied procedural fairness because he was not shown hidden camera footage that was recorded at the abattoir before or during his interview for the program.
On Friday the ABC reported Justice Michael Wigney ruled that none of the four imputations allegedly contained in the program were conveyed and dismissed the case.
