Oliver taken to hospital

Oliver taken to hospital

Champion jockey Damien Oliver was last night awaiting results of precautionary scans on his neck after a rare trip to Warrnambool ended abruptly yesterday. Oliver had own in by helicopter earlier in the day to ride a number of horses for Rosemont Stud, including Ethekwini (Savabeel) in the Cri-Tech Plumbing BM64 Handicap (1400m). However, Ethekwini played up in the stalls and became cast, with Oliver becoming awkwardly placed as a result.
Ethekwini was scratched and will be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards before racing again. For Oliver, he was transported to Warrnambool Hospital for precautionary scans and was awaiting clearance to ride at tomorrow’s Cauleld meeting, where he has seven rides.
