Champion jockeys Damien Oliver and Jamie Kah will also be heading to this year’s Ascot Racing Carnival after being booked for rides by Lindsey Smith.
The Warrnambool-based trainer has engaged the services of Oliver for the ride on Triple Missile (Smart Missile) in the Winterbottom Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) on December 2, a race that the Perth-born rider has won twice previously; aboard Marasco (Scenic) in 2006 and Voodoo Lad (I Am Invincible) in 2018. Triple Missile was last seen running sixth in the Rising Fast Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) down the Flemington straight on November 4.
“He just got in an unwinnable spot, that’s about as simple as that was,” Smith told Racing.com. “That’s what happens when you’re a bit one dimensional and the race shape goes against you.” Meanwhile, Jamie Kah will continue her association with Tuvalu (Kermadec), who she has partnered on his two most recent outings, when the gelding tackles both the Railway Stakes and Northerly Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m).
