O’Brien charged over positive swab

Danny O’Brien has been issued two charges after a horse he trains returned a positive to an anti-inflammatory drug. On Thursday, Racing Victoria stewards issued a prohibited substance charge (AR 240(2)) and a charge over the keeping of his treatment records (AR 104(1)) after it was found Princeofcambridge (Super Easy) had returned a pre-race blood sample positive to Triamcinolone Acetonide at Pakenham in February.
Princeofcambridge did not race on that day as the meeting was abandoned due to weather conditions. Triamcinolone is a long-acting synthetic corticosteroid used in horses as an anti-inflammatory. The charges issued against O’Brien will be heard before the Victorian Racing Tribunal on a date to be fixed.
