Champion sprinter Nature Strip (Nicconi) will take on ten rivals and jump from barrier one in Saturday’s Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (Gr 1, 1000m) at Flemington, as he bids to win his tenth elite-level contest. Rivals will include Moir Stakes (Gr 1, 1000m) winner Coolangatta (Written Tycoon), who will jump from barrier nine, as the three-year-old filly carries five kilograms less than the 2022 King’s Stand Stakes (Gr 1, 5f) hero.
James McDonald will ride the now eight-year-old, with dual Flemington Group 1 winner Roch ‘N’ Horse (Per Incanto) drawn alongside Nature Strip in barrier two. Meanwhile, Marabi (I Am Invincible) (Β Five), September Run (Exceed And Excel) (six) and Bella Nipotina (Pride Of Dubai) (seven), while Coolangatta will be joined by Millane (Zoustar) (ten) and Buenos Noches (Supido) (11) on the outside of the field.
