Meet Cranbourne’s newly located NZ trainers Emma-Lee & David Browne – Sparta Racing
It’s been a hectic month for husband-and-wife training team Emma-Lee and David Browne, packing their lives up and shifting across from New Zealand to Australia.
After David Browne spent much of the spring in Australia with their horses Elephant and Rhinoceros, Emma-Lee and the couple’s children joined him in Victoria for what should’ve been a day out at The All-Star Mile to watch Elephant, only for him to be withdrawn.
The team has 22 horses currently in the Cranbourne stable but hopes to continue to build on those numbers over the coming months.
“Nice boxes, the facilities are great, the tracks are second to none, we have a variety of different tracks, it’s great,” David Browne said.

We enjoy the challenge of working with each horse as an individual. We work out what their strengths and weaknesses are, and from there develop a programme that suits them. It’s not one-size-fits-all for every horse – they are all different. We are passionate about winning races and doing the best by every horse that comes through our yard, because happy horses are winning horses.
