McDonald to ride Mr Quickie
James McDonald has been booked to ride Mr Quickie in the Stradbroke Handicap next weekend after Jamie Kah was unable to commit in time. Kah has ridden the five-yearold in four of his last seven races, including to victory in the Toorak Handicap (Gr 1, 1600m) in October. “Her (Kah’s) manager I think wanted to see the state of play after this weekend for the Stradbroke so couldn’t give us a firm commitment,” part-owner Anthony Mithen told the Moody On The Mic podcast.
“She’s riding Vega One I think this weekend who’s a chance to go into the Stradbroke. I understand all those things, but you’ve got to make the right decision for your horse.” McDonald will be the 11th jockey to partner Mr Quickie. “We had a chat to Wiley (managing owner Wiley Dalziel) and Stokesy (trainer Phil Stokes) and the crew and said JMac is a pretty good option so let’s go that way, so he’s locked in,” Mithen added.
