Injured trainer’s condition continues to improve
Doctors have removed Bruce Purcell’s breathing tube as the injured trainer’s condition continues to improve after a life-threatening accident at Cranbourne earlier this month.
Purcell was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition on 12th July after a freak incident involving one of his horses.
While he remains in intensive care with swelling on the brain and multiple fractures to the body and face, the 76-year-old is taking small steps towards recovery.
“Bruce has had his breathing tube removed and is trying to talk,” a spokesperson from the Purcell family said.
“It’s a huge relief.
“He has a long way to go but he is doing a great job.
“We’d like to thank everyone for the ongoing love and support.”
