Four for Impending
The Paul Perry-trained Forecaster (2 c ex Street Storm by Stormy Atlantic) showed the benefit of a break when he scored a maiden victory over 1100 metres at Canterbury yesterday, providing Darley stallion Impending (Lonhro) with a fourth individual winner.
Having the run of the race under William Pike, the gelding beat Disoney (Dissident) by a length and a quarter with a further two and three-quarter lengths back to Never Fails (Hellbent) in third.
A $60,000 pinhook by Binalong Bloodstock from the Toolooganvale Farm draft at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale, Forecaster was bought by Paul Perry Horse Training for $220,000 from the Newgate Farm consignment at last year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
Forecaster is the fourth winner from six to race out of the stakes-winning Stormy Atlantic (Storm Cat) mare Street Storm, who has a weanling lly by Microphone (Exceed And Excel) and was visited Farnan (Not A Single Impending DARLEY Doubt) last spring. Dual Group 1 winner Impending stands at Darley Victoria for a fee of $22,000.
