Everest will have a crowd of 10,000
The Everest will have a crowd of 10,000 in attendance after New South Wales racing minister Kevin Anderson announced that the numbers for the crowd could be doubled from 5,000 at Randwick this weekend. The doubling of the attendance was confirmed when new Covid-safe conditions were signed off by recently appointed premier Dom Perrottet and the health minister Brad Hazzard.
Over 40,000 people attended the first two renewals of The Everest in 2018 and 2019, with 11,000 allowed to attend under Covid conditions last year. The news came on Sydney’s first day out of lockdown, and just one day after Victoria announced that 10,000 spectators will be allowed to attend next month’s Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m).
