Hugh Bowman was on Saturday suspended for failing to ride out one of his mounts to the line in a Group 1 race at Rosehill.

The champion jockey pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to ride out Avilius in the $1.5 million Tancred Stakes (2400m).

Stewards alleged he eased up on Avilius near the 50m, when in second spot, before renewing his vigour over the concluding stages.

Mustajeer ($7) powered home along the inside to finish second, a short-half-head in advance of Avilius ($5.50) in the race won effortlessly by $2.15 favourite Verry Elleegant.
