Alligator Blood findings released
There was no evidence anyone connected with trainer David Vandyke’s stable administered the prohibited substance which saw Alligator Blood (All Too Hard) stripped of his Magic Millions
Guineas (RL, 1400m) win, it has been revealed. Racing Queensland yesterday gave details of Thursday’s behind closed doors hearing which resulted in Vandyke being fined $20,000 after traces of Altrenogest, more commonly known as Regu-mate, were found in the gelding’s post-race urine sample.
Chief steward Peter Chadwick said there was no indication about how the substance was administered to Alligator Blood. Vandyke avoided suspension after being found guilty of breaching rule AR240(2) – presenting a horse to race with a prohibited substance. Alligator Blood’s owner Allan Endresz confirmed he will challenge the disqualification decision in the Supreme Court after $1.1 million in prize-money was forfeited.
