Aidan O’Brien’s star Wichita suffered a fracture in trackwork this morning at Werribee
Vets are assessing Aidan O’Brien-trained star Wichita after the horse suffered a fracture in trackwork at Werribee on Wednesday morning.
The talented galloper sustained the injury to his right hind leg, which was discovered after he completed his morning work and returned to his box.
“RV and stable veterinarians are currently assessing the horse’s injury to determine the appropriate management plan,” a Racing Victoria statement read.
The horse will not be nominated for any races and will remain confined to its box under veterinary care.
On Tuesday, O’Brien’s travelling foreman TJ Comerford said the horse was heading towards the Group 1 Kennedy Cantala Stakes, all but ruling out a tilt at this month’s $7.5 million Golden Eagle (1500m).
